H2 Oh Crap!

Article this came from

California, as those who watch the news know, is experiencing a major drought. With way less fresh water available than what is typically needed, the state has had to make some drastic choices. First, water companies are upping the cost of water for the state by up to four times the standard cost which will have to be paid for by the citizens. The governor has had to ask for all citizens to reduce water usage by around 20%. The problem may only seem to be restricted to California for now, but there are several other states with water consumption increasing drastically. Montana, Nevada, and Colorado are in trouble due to increases in usage of water and increasing population. Everyone needs to remember that the water we use is somewhat limited in quantity due to salt water and impure, disease carrying bodies that need to be filtered and cleaned before use.

This problem hasn't hit Nebraska yet, but it could soon and you should all be scared. But in all seriousness, we as a country need to realize that water is technically a commodity that not everyone has. We need to manage how much we use and maintain a reasonable amount used daily, the average use of water per day for Americans is 88 gallons! That's absurd! Between laundry, washing dishes, showers, and other things that happen daily people use so much water. To avoid something like this happening elsewhere, we need to take into account how much we have per year, with changes due to things like snowfall, and use what we have appropriately.

If anyone even reads the blogs that we post (except you Mrs. Hake) say something in the comments. If not I realize I'm literally talking to no one so that's cool. Ltr Anybdy.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/stephaniemcneal/students-fight-for-teacher-after-nebraska-catholic-school-fi#.rnMJB2w557

Before I start, I know I've already done a post on gay rights, but... i just.. GAH! I find it so irritating.

Ok, so... Skutt Catholic, our very own here in Omaha, made national news for firing a teacher for being gay after letting the administration know he was going to marry his partner. Mr. Eledge, the teacher, who lead the speech and debate team to state victory for four years running, had his contract terminated and the school had the archdiocese ensure his contract will not be renewed. The school's "defense" was that all teachers and administration had to agree to "support the teachings of the Catholic Church" and that this is a just reason for firing an employee. Naturally, students, both current and former have spoken out against the school's verdict and a couple set up petitions to raise support for Mr. Eledge. Despite the almost 100.000 signatures from around the world, the school will still  not renew his contract.

So, if you read my second post, you already know how I feel about this kind of stuff. Basically, the school is dumb for doing this, why do we not allow equality in a country founded on it, the Bible says to love your neighbor as yourself no matter what, etc. The only reason that Skutt is getting away with this is because they are a private school and operate under the archdioceses and not the state, so there are more things that they can do that public schools can't. So, I've signed both the major petitions just for support, I know the school won't change its position, but I like supporting things that I feel are in the right.

What's your opinion? Is Skutt justified? No. How should this situation be handled? Yell about it in the comments. Ltr evrybdy. ;)

Another Police Brutality Story

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2015/04/08/following-horrible-tragedy-south-carolina-mayor-pledges-body-cameras-for-all-police/

In yet another story where a white police officer has killed an unarmed African American man some action is finally being taken. After a traffic stop a South Carolinan officer by the name Slager shot and killed a 50 year old African American man named Scott for no apparent reason. The officer initially said he tried to use his taser and that he had been struck by Scott and that's when he used deadly force. However, his story was quickly proven wrong by a video given to the Scott family that shows Slager reaching for his gun and firing six shots into Scott's back. With this evidence, Slager has been arrested and convicted of murder. The police chief Slager worked under has now issued that all officers will soon have body cameras that record all their actions to avoid another tragedy like this one.

I personally think there is a problem with the way police officers profile African American men and seem to, unnecessarily, use lethal force and claim their innocence. With a noticeable quantity of stories like this one coming to light recently, I believe there may possibly be a problem with the system itself. The police chief who ordered that all officers will now have body cams has made the right decision to avoid future problems and I think other cities should follow suit. Body cams for officers would indeed cost a substantial quantity of taxpayer money, but if they can prove wrongdoing and possibly save lives, then I think that they should be federal law.

What's your opinion on stories like this and should police officers have body cams? Fight with me about it in the comments. Ltr evrybdy

Oh Nebraska, you irritate me

This article is what I'm going to be yelling at you about for the next page so, educate yourself first.

http://www.omaha.com/news/nebraska/same-sex-marriages-in-nebraska-on-hold-after-circuit-court/article_89afe2be-c38f-11e4-bb93-7f3115a6252d.html

This was about how, earlier this month (March 2015), Nebraska was going to legalize gay marriage/ same-sex marriage (both terms are politically correct but I'm going to use the former because it's shorter :). On the 6th, as this was about to go through the courts, at the last second, after U.S. District Judge Batallion wanted more time to think about this bill. As the Supreme Court ruling on this topic is coming in June, people are leaning toward the idea that gay marriage will be legalized throughout the country. Hearings for arguments on both sides of this topic are coming on April 28th and a verdict will be, hopefully, given on May 2nd.

First off, my opinion is a really, really liberal one so conservatives should already have left this page. When I first heard that gay marriage was going to be legalized in this state I was excited, it's something I'm all for. Given how this country is based on equality for all and everyone is equal, the fact that this is still an issue aggravates me to no end. Then, when I heard that the decision was postponed, I was about done with this state. I think that gay marriage will be legal in this state before the Supreme Court verdict based on how close we were to having it legalized.

Now that I've successfully force-fed you my opinion for however long it took you to read it, go get a sandwich, take a nap, clean out your ears, sharpen a pencil or leave a comment so I can argue or think you are a decent human being. Ltr evrybdy

'Bout Meh

Hello, anyone reading this. This being my first post I will give you a slight glimpse of my life. I don't have a whole lot to say about myself, but here it goes.
I'm a (relatively) "normal" teenager from Omaha, Nebraska (if you don't know where that is, don't bother finding it, it's not worth the time). I go to high school and all that jazz and as any teenager would say, it's incredibly boring and hardly worth the effort et cetera, et cetera. I participate in the trap team, for those who don't know what it is: you basically shoot at clay targets with a shotgun.

I play a, probably, metric crap-ton of video games with my friends. On weekends we hangout, play First Person Shooters, strategy games and a few MMOs. I'm also a fairly decent artist, most of the stuff I do is graphic (not in the violent sense just very expressive). I'll probably post some of my stuff later when I figure out how to.
This is all I'm gonna say about myself for now, I come back later and add some things or elaborate more, but this is all you got for now.

AAAnywaaaays...

This is the end for now.
